Candied Maple Canadian Bacon

Package hot dogs
1/4 stick butter or margarine
Bottle maple syrup
1 can carbonated soft drink
Bacon bits

Slice each hot dog into small round slices.
Place butter in skillet, close lid, place on very low heat.
Turn off skillet when butter melts.
Add hot dogs and cover with maple syrup. Turn heat onto medium.
Cook hot dogs for five minutes, while slowly adding can of soft drink and the rest of the bottle of maple syrup, and slowly stirring with a spatula.
Place lid back on mixture, cook for half hour.
Turn off heat on skillet.
Take out slices with tongs, roll on plate covered with bacon bits.

Save liquid for use in maple bacon gelatin, adding remaining bacon bits to liquid.
