Northern Backyard Salad (Posted: Sep 29,   Modified: Sep 29)
You are going to need a colander to collect and rinse your vegetables. Fill the colander with the following (Bring a long a field guide to edible plants, and avoid picking the mushrooms):

clover leaves
dandelion leaves
wild carrot flowers
pansy flowers
chickory flowers

Rinse these items well, be sure to remove plants that don't belong. It takes a mycologist, a doctor in the studies of mushrooms to be able to accurately identify mushrooms. Leave them alone until you have a degree in mycology or a friend who is a mycologist to help you out. It's better to be safe when it comes to gathering plants. If you are not sure if it is edible or not, avoid it.

Top with cherry or grape tomatoes in the colander, and rinse again. Other toppings include grated carrots, minced tofu.
